Thank you for your patience while we work out a scheduling issue!

  • All classes meet once weekly from 4-5:30; All sessions run for six weeks
  • Location is at the historic Howland Cultural Center at 477 Main street in Beacon
  • Cost is $150 per 6 week session, which includes all materials and fees
  • Mixed age classes are designed for ages 6-11 yr; Older kid classes are for age 9 & up. (Mature 5 year olds whom have completed or are currently enrolled in Kindergarten will be considered for mixed age classes)
  • Current health guidelines issued by New York State will be followed and updated prior to the first meeting

Art Class Schedule and Class Descriptions

Tuesday: 2D Art for Older Kids

February 7, 14, 21, 28, March 7, 14

This class is designed for students ages 9-14 who are ready to take on new challenges with their art. They will learn about perspective, shading, composition and other ways to bring their art up to the next level. They will still, however, be given opportunities to express themselves freely and incorporate their imaginations into their artwork.

Wednesday: Clay Creations (FULL)

February 1, 8, 15, 22, March 1, 8

Learn the basics of everyone’s favorite medium – clay! Clay is a wonderful expressive medium and is ideal for enhancing children’s development on many levels. Students will learn coil, pinch, and slab construction as well as different surface decoration techniques. Returning clay students may choose from new projects. All pieces will be kiln fired. (Mixed Ages)

Wednesday: Mini Masterpieces (FULL)

March 29, April 12, 19, 26, May 3, 10

Students will have the opportunity to explore the styles and techniques of some of the world’s great artists through highly expressive, hands-on activities. While making their own art, they will learn about the achievements of these artists and develop an appreciation for what they hoped to communicate to our world. A variety of art media will be incorporated into this session. (Mixed Ages)

Thursday: Clay for Older Kids (FULL)

March 30, April 13, 20, 27, May 4, 11

Similar to Clay Creations but designed for the older student who is ready to take on more challenging projects. Clay is a wonderful expressive medium and is ideal for enhancing children’s development on many levels. Students will learn coil, pinch, and slab construction as well as different surface decoration techniques. Returning clay students may choose from new projects. All pieces will be kiln fired. (Ages 9-14 yrs)
