Fall 2022 After School Art Schedule

Registration is Now Open!

  • All classes meet once weekly from 4-5:40; All sessions run for five weeks
  • Location is at the historic Howland Cultural Center at 477 Main street in Beacon
  • Cost is $150 per 5 week session which includes all materials and fees
  • Mixed age classes are designed for ages 6-11 yr; Older kid classes are for age 9 & up. (Mature 5 year olds whom have completed or are currently enrolled in Kindergarten will be considered for mixed age classes)
  • Current health guidelines issued by New York State will be followed and updated prior to the first meeting

Tuesday: Super Sculpture!

October 4, 11, 18, 25, November 1

Get ready to get creative with wire, cardboard, wood, and more! Bring your imagination and get your creative juices flowing while making expressive, one of a kind works of 3-D art! New projects will be available for those who have already taken any of the sculpture classes in the past. (Mixed Ages)

Wednesday: Clay Creations (FULL)

October 5, 12, 19, 26, November 2

Learn the basics of everyone’s favorite medium – clay! Clay is a wonderful expressive medium and is ideal for enhancing children’s development on many levels. Students will learn coil, pinch, and slab construction as well as different surface decoration techniques. Returning clay students may choose from new projects. All pieces will be kiln fired. (Mixed Ages)

Wednesday: Printmaking (FULL)

November 9, 16, 30, December 7, 14

Students will be introduced to simple and fun printmaking techniques such as carved foam block printing, mono-printing, and more. They will have the opportunity to experiment freely with the different techniques, creating a variety of multi-colored, textural prints that are sure to be frame worthy. Printmaking is such a fun, immediate, and exciting process! (Mixed Ages)

Thursday: Clay for Older Kids (FULL)

November 10, 17, December 1, 8, 15

Similar to Clay Creations but designed for the older student who is ready to take on more challenging projects. Clay is a wonderful expressive medium and is ideal for enhancing children’s development on many levels. Students will learn coil, pinch, and slab construction as well as different surface decoration techniques. Returning clay students may choose from new projects. All pieces will be kiln fired. (Ages 9-14 yrs)
