Session 1

Mythical Creatures in Clay

Jan. 15, 22, 29, Feb. 5, 12
Magnificent monsters, dangerous dragons, & serpentine sea creatures! We’ll use clay hand-building techniques such as pinch, coil, texture, and more to create unique ceramic art inspired by ancient mythical stories and fantastic tall tales. Creations can be either fun (sculpture) or functional (think dragon teapot!) All pieces will be kiln fired.

Fabulous Fabrics!

Jan. 17, 24, 31, Feb. 7, 14
Students will create a fun, original, wearable art collection for themselves, using a variety of creative techniques such as batik, tie-dye, stencil printing, and stitchery. You are what you wear – come and express your personal style! T-shirts or other garment will be provided, or bring one of your own to embellish if you prefer.

Session 2

2D Art Studio (FULL)
Tuesdays

Feb. 26. Mar. 5, 12, 19, 26
This class is for kids who love to draw, and who are ready to take on new challenges with their art. They will learn about line, shape, form, beginning perspective, value, composition and other ways to bring their art up to the next level. Students will work both from observation and imagination, and will create both individual and collaborative artworks. (Ages 8 and up)

Crazy for Collage!
Wednesdays

Feb. 27, Mar. 6, 13, 20, 27
Creativity is key in this expressive, mixed media class. We’ll create decorative paper using painting and printing techniques, and use this paper and other materials to create a dynamic, unique collage. For inspiration, we will take a look at the work of Henri Matisse and Eric Carle, two artists known for their collage art.

Clay Creations

All pieces will be kiln fired.
