- Art Classes run for five weeks and meet from 4-5:30
- Beacon class location is at the Howland Cultural Center (477 Main Street)
- Cost is $110 per student, per session which includes all materials and fees
- Mixed age classes are for kids 6-11; Older kid classes when offered are for ages 9-14
Session 1
Clay Creations (FULL)
Tuesdays 1/10 through 2/7
Learn the basics of everyone’s favorite medium – clay! Clay is a wonderful, expressive medium and is ideal for enhancing children’s development on many levels. We’ll learn coil, pinch, and slab construction as well as different surface decoration techniques. Returning clay students may choose from new projects. All pieces will be kiln fired. Ages 6-11
2D Art for Older Kids
Thursdays 1/12 through 2/9
This class is designed for students ages 9-14 who are ready to take on new challenges with their art. They will learn about perspective, shading, composition and other ways to bring their art up to the next level. They will still, however, be given opportunities to express themselves freely and use their imaginations. Students will experiment with various drawing media. Note: There will be new projects for returning students. Ages 9-14
Session 2
Sew Cool (FULL)
Tues. 2/14 through 3/14
Sewing is easy and fun, and anyone can learn how! After practicing some basic skills students will create a simple stuffed animal (or monster, perhaps?) uniquely designed by them! A personal touch will be added with creative embellishments such as sequins, buttons, and simple decorative stitching. Returning sewing students may choose from new and more challenging projects if they prefer. Come stitch with us!
